Letter Animation with Cinema 4D

CMCI Studio Logo

Creating the animation of independent letters in Cinema 4D definitely had a learning curve. RJ’s video of how to export splines out of Adobe Illustrator helped me start on the right track, and I was able to upload the “CMCI Studio” logo and text into Cinema 4D. The only issue was the the letters“St” in “Studio” were still combined into one spline, and I could not figure out how to de-couple them.

The other issue I faced was how to get different materials onto the letters independently. I was able to do that on a different file, but now when I drag the material onto the individual letters of the logo, everything changes, not just the one component.

Do I need to have different Extrudes for everything I want to change the material on, or is there another way?

Either way, my method was to lock the camera onto the “St” in “Studio” because that was at the center of my project. This was fun because I could now change the camera, and it followed the “St” around the screen, but I wasn’t sure how to unlock the camera at different frames, so I just had it stuck to the “St” for all 180 frames.

When it zooms out to the right, I wanted it to go completely out of view, but I was only able to get it so far away because I could not change the camera or the positioning of the logo anymore.

It was great practice learning to do this, and I am excited to learn how to do more animations to really make my work stand out!
